Agency tells me - not enough experience!!!! - 2023/08/07 20:54 Hey folks,

I've just found this site today - and am glad to hear I'm not alone. I live in Scotland, and it's not much better here!

I used to be an IT Tutor (but had no teaching qualifications)at a local college. That was 4 years ago. Amongst IT Training, I used to temp as PAs/Secretaries and over 10 years, built up some great experience.

However, my son is now 4 - so I applied for a part-time admin job (basic office skills required) - the agency got back to me saying "you do not have enough experience" - CAN U BELIEVE IT? - you're answer is probably YES!

So now, I am studying a course through Paisley University - (online from home) - which was free - I paid using my ILA - Individual Learning Account. But this course is just at foundation level, and I'm not sure I will be employable again!!!!!

As it is , tax credits overpaid me, so I don't know when I will ever get help with childcare costs again.

What a mess, I just think employers see that you have kids and straight away they think "Oh no - she'll be wanting time off - let's employ the man instead"

Sorry to seem bitter - but after 2 recent interviews that was certainly the impression I found!
