I, like you hold an arts degree (Music). I had had a successful career in recruitment consultancy a few years ago before taking a family break. Have just about completed my MBA at one of the top business schools and want to return to work very soon. My dilemma is that my interests and aspirations have changed since I started back at Uni plus I haven't been in the workplace formally for some time. So I am now left with a great qualification, feeling rather old at 40, good IT skills but not leading edge and a mismatch in salary expectation! I suggest at 29', go for it, but don't be surprised if you are a different person at the end of it. Older and wiser but still with a lot to offer. You will certainly feel more confident of going it alone if future employers can't offer you what you want to do. Good luck.
